Took a trip the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles today to draw the dead things. Mel and I had a lot of fun sketching the taxidermy. We want to go back and spend a whole day in the Hall of Birds! I can’t believe the last time I was there was almost exactly a year ago!
Found these guys in the Hall of African Mammals and the Discovery Lab.
Warm up sketch of the Triceratops and Trex at the center of the museum right when you walk in.
Warn up sketch in the Age of Mammals exhibit.
The baby Great Horned Owl was so fluffy!
This little guy is tucked away in the corner with the humming birds near the floor- the perfect hight to sit and draw him!
Elephant, one of the first drawings of the day.
The cape buffalo are at the end of the Hall of African Mammals with the Elephants.
Lynx are funny looking kitties.
Baby walrus is not the cutest baby animal. Also the daddy walrus looked like he had cellulite on his neck. They were fun to draw though, the museum has a lot of deer and antelope like animals, but I have never drawn a Walrus before!
Bears are big.
Not in love with how that wolf turned out, but the Mountain lions were a lot of un to draw!
I didn’t know that porcupines were so fluffy! This one was hanging out in a pine tree.
Today I learned that Polar Bears have huge feet!

I am obsessed with your illustrations. I’ve written a children’s book about animals – would you consider illustrating it?
